good pictures

bought this for the pictures for pediatric board review. Wish the online content was "student consult" but its not, however it is still useful to have the whole book online. for text, I'd use Nelson, but this is a good addition for pictures I think. Also bought it at a great price from marketplace so didn't feel as guilty spending money on yet ANOTHER pediatric textbook.

What it is ain't exactly clear (Buffalo Springfield)

So this is "The" book behind the film. Now let's forget about the film.

I like stories about big bugs, dangerous plants, and was looking forward to voracious sharks. What I got was a love story and a dead cat. I do not like stories where the bad guys have to pick on cats and dogs to show how bad they are. Not even sharks look for cat chow or doggie snacks.

We start out with a great premise of a displaced shark that just needs a kinibble on the way to where ever he is going. There is a consciences sheriff that does not want people feeding the wildlife (especially with their bodies). A standard money grubbing business man that wants the beaches left open.

A few bites now and then "and the search is on" makes for a great read. Then we forget about the shark and the havoc to concentrate on a woman with bodily needs (in very graphic pros.) Not really as described

This book arrived quickly, it was in good condition. But it is NOT printed with "First Edition" as described. It's also NOT the version in the picture with the original "shark" image that is shown in the photo (probably the sleeve, but missing anyway). From what I can see, it's either a book club version or perhaps a pirated copy - there are plenty of those around. But the price was OK, so I'll keep it. The owner of the business (called "sometimes") says that they have a perfect 5-star rating, and that they strive to be honest. I like that attitude and I was ready to give it 5 stars when it arrived so soon, but it just wasn't as described, yet still worth the fair price.

Good Book But Newer Book Is Better

This is an excellent book for parents and it's fairly short. A better book on this subject is Kiyosaki's later work, "Why A Students Work for C Students (and B Students Work For The Government)." Parents need to begin now to prepare their children for financial freedom. If you rely on the traditional educational system (both public schools and parochial schools), your children will be taught everything they need to know to make them wage slaves to employers for their entire lives.

All my son thinks about, is on buying toys

Because my child expends every dollar he gets from birthdays and holly days right away, in buying toys that he looses interests in, the same day. I tried many ways to teach him how to save money, this book helped me to find the best way to do it.

New perspective of same solid advice

As a parent and teacher, I find the information in the book apropos to both the state of education and the need for parents to see schools as augmenting what their kids learn rather than the other way around. Having read most of his books, Kiyosaki doesn't necessarily present anything new, but he offers the perspective of mentoring and protecting your child that helps both parent and child see the power in financial freedom.

Not for the advanced

While I certainly agree that this would be a great book for beginners, for someone who has taken a few assessment classes this would mostly be old news. I bought this book to help me delineate between Neuropsychological assessments and other assessment techniques and to fill me in on commonly used neuropsychological tests. To the book's credit, it did answer my questions, just not at the depth I was looking for. The first half of the book discusses general assessment techniques, most of which I already knew, and doesn't get to commonly used tests until the second half (and even then it is only extremely brief descriptions). On the other hand, the text is written beautifully, and is easy to understand and follow along. Another thing I particularly liked about this book is that at the end of each chapter there is a mini-quiz to test your knowledge -- particularly useful for any students who may be taking this course. As such, I would recommend this book to beginners, but suggest something else for those who are more familiar with psychological testing.

This is a quick, easy to understand guide to understanding neuropsychological assessment. It is a great companion to any of the common neuropsychological tests (i.e Luria-nebraska) as a reference. It also provides a comparison among the more common assessment tools.

Good general introduction, helpful to experienced practitioners

This book provides a solid review of basic aspects of neuropsychological assessment. It does an excellent job of addressing diagnostic issues (sensitivity and specificity, the importance of considering base rates, differentiating normal from abnormal performance etc.)It is aimed at the clinician and spends less time on neuroscience issues that do not have a direct bearing on what neuropsychologists actually do. Many different assessment tools and techniques are discussed. I would have like to see more critical analysis of the different instruments but perhaps this can be addressed in subsequent additions.
